About Us
The Madison Trolley Company is a local family-owned business dedicated to making our city’s history and culture accessible to everyone. Our company is a labor of love founded to serve our community and create a legacy for our family.
We want your tour to be the best you have ever experienced, and your special event to be even more special.

A Family Business with a Love for Local History
Our founder, Bob Fuhr, is the son of a school principal and kindergarten teacher. He spent the first twelve summers of his life traveling with their cross-country summer camping tour. For 8 weeks, Wagons West Camp Tour carried 42 teenagers and 8 staff through 26 states, from upstate New York to the Pacific Northwest, down the West Coast, through the Southwest, and back through the South. In 1968, Newsweek magazine called it “One of the best summer experiences for youth in America”. Our first trolley was named Unit 1 after the lead van driven by Bob’s father on the trip.
Everything we do is designed to create memorable experiences for our patrons and reflect positively upon our community. We are members of the Morgan County Historical Society, The Morgan County Landmarks Society, the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, and The Wheelhouse, an organization dedicated to helping new business ventures in Morgan County succeed. Whenever possible, we buy and hire locally.
Prioritizing Safety in Every Ride.
We operate clean energy powered Hometown Villagers, made by America’s premier trolley manufacturer. They are painted to resemble historic fire apparatus to honor first responders and the Madison Fire Department, and to commemorate our family’s tradition of military and emergency service. Our ADA and family-friendly trolleys offer the option of open air or climate-controlled comfort.
The only thing we prioritize over creating enjoyable and memorable experiences is safety. Our drivers complete the Georgia Department of Transportation’s program for training and licensing school bus drivers. We have a rigorous safety program that includes equipping each vehicle with a fire extinguisher, medical response bag, AED device, oxygen unit, and roadway safety equipment far exceeding all requirements.
